YOUTH DANCE/STUDY ADULTS PROFESSIONAL PROJECT SUMMER INTENSIVE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE GRADUATES
SUMMER INTENSIVE (for young dancers from 10 years old)
July 2 to 27 2012
The summer intensive shares with young dancers our school’s particular approach to training. This system is based on a deep understanding of one’s anatomy, exploring how to best adapt the body to dance technique and to become aware of one’s natural limitations. We believe that only by taking the time to teach the students to know their instrument (their body) intimately, and to incorporate new understandings of how muscles and joints work will one produce dancers who can protect their instrument and work to their optimum with increased strength, mobility, speed and flexibility. This produces dancers who will have a longer, healthier career.
Ballet Divertimento’s Summer school has welcomed students in all stages of their development. They come from all over Canada, the United States, Central and South America. These students have learned a new way of working, a different approach to the daily technical and stylistic demands of the different disciplines they practice. Many have then decided to stay in our school and register for our “Dance-Study” program; the others were able to deepen their knowledge of anatomy, of classical and modern dance, and to take home valuable working tools.
