Founded in 1991 by Susan Alexander, general director, Ballet Divertimento is a non-profit institution where children,
adolescents and adults pursue an interest in dance, whether as vocation or diversion.
The school's principal mission is to promote classical ballet and contemporary dance
education in an atmosphere of excellence and diversity, an open and creative environment.
It offers a diverse range of educational, creative and outreach programs.
In 2000, the School and Choreographic Centre moved to new dedicated facilities in the heart of Montreal.
Ballet Divertimento offers Dance-Study programs for high school and college students wishing to combine dance training
with academic studies under Yamandu Delgado, pedagogical director.
The critically acclaimed Springboard Danse Montréal project was instituted in 2002,
under general director, Susan Alexander and artistic director Alexandra Wells of the prestigious Julliard School in New York.
The annual 3-week project brings together Montreal’s elite choreographers and talented young dancers from across North America.
